Wake-up Light
HF3550
Scientific observations of very simple organisms give rise to the assumption that they began to adapt to light and temperature at an early stage of evolution in order to improve regulation of their metabolic processes. The design of the HF3550 Wake-up Light is based on a similarly natural concept: sleeping and waking. This light alarm simulates the slow rising of the sun. A coloured LED light slowly changes from red to orange and then to a light sunny yellow. The light shines gently through its translucent, organically shaped casing and turns it into an object that enriches any interior. The user concept of this Wake-up Light is innovative. The neatly structured user interface can be controlled with a free app on the iPhone and be adapted to individual sleep patterns so that users can select different alarm sounds or a favourite song. Docking the iPhone to charge it overnight is another very contemporary feature. The organic design language and sensitive alarm function of HF3550 Wake-up Light directly appeal to users’ emotions. The traditional shape of the alarm clock has been completely re-defined.
Statement by the Jury
HF3550 Wake-up Light’s design redefines a ritual. Instead of being woken by the usual loud noises, waking to this Wake-up Light’s gentle light signals is a much more natural experience. This concept changes one’s perception of a daily routine. The alarm clock is no longer a merely functional tool, but turns into a desirable design object.
