Grow Up

Grow Up is designed such that children can seek guidance from their grandparents, but they can also have fun exploring on their own, observing the changes of the plant roots and taking notes. This process will help them develop a sense of achievement. Grandparents can assist their grandchildren by drawing on their own gardening experience and natural knowledge. To make operations easier for the elderly, the kit uses hydroponics and touch-controlled light panels. Growing lamps are outfitted with periscopes to pique children’s exploratory instincts by allowing them to observe the underwater root system as the plants grow. With the help of their grandparents, they can record all stages of plant growth on the accompanying record card. Plant growth continues to become a shared source of communication and joy between grandparents and grandchildren as the planting process scales up and creates new situations for observation. Most importantly, the process allows for natural character development and cognitive development in the family space, where two generations thrive alongside plants.
