Drop Leaf Table

Designed as part of a renovation to a small 50 m2 apartment, the owners live on their own but wished for the ability to entertain a large group of guests during special occasions. Drop Leaf Table addresses this architectural challenge for flexible living. In its every day configuration, it is a round table that sits two people comfortably. A single leaf can also be folded up if a straight edge is needed for laptop working and other tasks. The two leaves on either side can be folded up to form a rectangular table that sits six or more when friends and families are visiting. A mixture of CNC technology with traditional timber and metal craft is combined to make the table, which comes together as a deceivingly simple yet elegantly complex piece of furniture.
