Narrative Short Film
Den Tyste
Leo is a deaf child who experiences life in the year 1968 in Piteå, Sweden, by careful observation. Through this unique perception, he realises his parents’ relationship is deteriorating. “Den Tyste” follows Leo and his mother as they deal with their family’s pitfalls. The film explores these two perspectives in experimental ways using intriguing techniques of sound design and cinematography to distinguish between their different perspectives. Shot on 16 mm colour as well as black-and-white film, without any dialogues, “Den Tyste” truly embodies the primary emphasis of purely visual storytelling.
