Civilizations: PBS Title Sequence

This project sought to redesign the opening title for “Civilizations”, an art history documentary series. The goal was to create a piece which more clearly distinguishes the show from other similar programmes. Thus, the conceptual basis for the project was to visually demonstrate how art movements evolve into one another over time. This was accomplished by iteratively rearranging abstract geometric forms to represent various historical artworks. This use of abstraction also solved the challenge of creating a visually unified piece while depicting the highly varied aesthetics throughout art history.
