BELL is a self-learning, easy-to-install edge computing module that monitors the operation of a central air-conditioning system around the clock and optimises its energy efficiency. Its design is inspired by a lighthouse in a dark sea – an allusion to the fact that the device detects and remedies data failures in a dark “digital ocean”. The jury was enthusiastic about this approach: “The status light elegantly emerges from the top of the housing and shows the user the type of error using different, configurable colours. This makes maintenance more effective and the operation of the air conditioner more reliable.”
