Now that our workspaces are expanding into the virtual world more and more, the way we work, collaborate and interact is fundamentally changing, and the equipment required to unlock the spatial experience calls for a new approach to product design. Apple has proven many times in the past that it is a master of this discipline. When upgrading, the company precisely tailors its products to the new and innovative features. Form follows function in the Apple Vision Pro, which incorporates technology and technical parameters to deliver the best-possible user experience in virtual space. Naturally, it also boasts the aesthetics that are typical of the brand, which Apple users have come to expect just as explicitly as the high level of functionality. We have already witnessed ever more powerful components being integrated into increasingly smaller formats – especially in the smartphone and watch segments – and this evolution is even more important in spatial computing headsets. Minimised shape and low weight have a decisive influence on wearing comfort, and they have been impressively realised in the Apple Vision Pro: three-dimensionally formed, laminated glass gently curves around the user’s face and flows into the custom aluminium alloy frame. If vision correction is required, ZEISS Optical Inserts can be magnetically attached to Vision Pro. The Light Seal is made of soft fabric and comes in a range of shapes and sizes to conform to a user’s face. Air-permeable and stretchable, the material provides a remarkably high level of comfort even when worn for long periods. Apple has also incorporated familiar brand aesthetics into the details so that styling, UI and UX design represent a coherent whole. “With the Apple Vision Pro, innovative technology has been translated into a familiar minimalist design language. It is very comfortable to wear because the centre of gravity is at middle of the head, keeping it snugly in place, even when the user moves fast. The overall workmanship is outstanding, and all facets of the appearance are coherent,” said the impressed judges. Welcome to the future!
