Book
Aesthetics of Chinese Printing
Typography has great significance for civilisation and is part of our common cultural heritage. These three books, presented in a lavishly designed wooden boxed set, document the rise and fall of traditional typographical industries as well as the history of artisans who earned their living with hot metal typesetting and lead type. Descriptions of technological terms related to the processes are interspersed with colourful graphics and text-based documents and highlight the dynamic aesthetics of typography as well as the arrangements of the type, resulting in a look that resembles the scrambling and reassembling of a jigsaw puzzle.
