Scuba Diving Fish Identification System
2nd Buddy
2nd Buddy was developed for scuba divers with Open Water Diver licenses to use in Egypt’s Red Sea region. It helps divers to distinguish different fish species and ensures a more conscious way of diving by pointing out potential dangers caused by certain sea animals. From a modular wall system with 36 different fish identification cards, a customised set can be threaded on a reclosable beaded chain, which can be attached with a carabiner to the diving gear. The accompanying app is an ideal way of identifying fish using their specific characteristics. Moreover, a neoprene packaging for transportation or to use it as a gift package was designed.
The project 2nd Buddy was also awarded a Red Dot in the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2011.
