Red Dot: Luminary goes to Lilium Jet
This year's Red Dot: Luminary went to Lilium Jet, a new mobility service designed by the German company Lilium GmbH. The Lilium Jet is a fully electric five-seat aircraft that can take off and land vertically. With only a single battery charge, it can travel 300 km in just one hour. In future, the aircraft should also be able to fly unmanned. Jury member Professor Lutz Fugner on the groundbreaking concept: "One of the best solutions ever seen is the project’s use of energy, what they brought together is the usability of the helicopter and the flying behaviour of an aeroplane. This concept managed to achieve much further and longer range with the amount of electric energy on the aircraft. As a concept, as a product of the future, this brings confidence into a new market of transportation design."
Marriage proposal on Red Dot stage
The big surprise of the evening was the successful marriage proposal of Mr Xu Le to his girlfriend Ms Gu Wanwan. The audience was happy with the couple and escorted them under applause from the stage. Both belong to the team of Zhijiang College of Zhejiang University of Technology and Zhejiang Gongshang University, Hangzhou College of Commerce, China, which received a Red Dot for the "Square and Round" chair.
