Excellent products “Made in Germany”
In order to mark imported goods from Germany, the label “Made in Germany” was established in Great Britain in the end of the 19th century. Over time, this designation of origin evolved to become a quality seal that marks innovative and high-value products. This is also proven by the designers and companies that successfully participate in the Red Dot Award. Whether Bosch, Siemens, Miele, Villeroy & Boch, Puma, Adidas, BMW or Audi – with their excellent design quality, big German brands outperform the competitors regularly and win over the Red Dot Jury. Also in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2018, they truly scored and were able to take home the coveted award.
“Avenio M” – modern tram
The tram “Avenio M Ulm” by Siemens, designed by Siemens AG and the design agency Yellow Window from Belgium, combines a classic appearance with modern, automotive elements. An almost invisible A-pillar means a larger cabin interior as well as a better visibility for the driver. In addition, it allows the operator a variety of design options in order to adapt the tram to their own fleet or the urban environments.
“This tram offers high variability with regard to the wishes of the operator and the clients. Both the exterior and the interior of the Avenio M convince with a stringently functional design,” said the jury about the Red Dot awarded vehicle.
“Euphoria 260” – for a better shower experience

Its ergonomic design allows precise operation of the shower. It can be controlled by turning the knob lightly. Users can choose between three different options – from a relaxing rain shower to a powerful jet spray. The flowing form language lends the overhead shower an elegant appearance.
“Hudson”– awarded tiles
The tiles of the “Hudson” range by Villeroy & Boch Fliesen, designed by Sebastian Diener and Christiane von der Laake, come along in three colours, nine sizes and four different surface textures. Their design is modelled on the fine grain of sandy surfaces. With warm and discreet shades, the tile-range appears both natural and timeless, thus suiting current architectural styles. The jury found the tiles to be of a calm and natural character and honored them with a Red Dot.
“Scout RX2” – intelligent robot vacuum cleaner
The robot vacuum cleaner “Scout RX2” by Miele features two front cameras that allow an intelligent and precise navigation. Seven front infra-red sensors and three sensors on the bottom provide protection against collisions and prevent the unit from falling down. An enhanced dust absorption on carpets as well as a suction capacity of up to two hours make it the ideal replacement for the conventional vacuum cleaner. The robot vacuum cleaner can not only be controlled via an app, the Home Vision version also transmits live images to a tablet or smartphone. The jury was convinced by the high degree of convenience and functionality of the robot vacuum cleaner, which was awarded a Red Dot.
