“Digital tools for innovative Design”: exhibition by solidThinking about digital design tools at the Red Dot Design Museum Essen

Innovative products arise from the interplay of form and function. That is why a harmonious synthesis of design and technology is of enormous importance already in the early stages of the development process. Today, modern software supports designers in their work and enables them to maximally exploit the potential of a product. From 20 September until 3 October 2016, the exhibition “Digital tools for innovative Design – solidThinking” shows in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, Germany, how and with which results this works.

A selection of products which have been developed with the help of the digital tools by US-American software company solidThinking are on show. The exhibits from the fields of industrial and product design, architecture and engineering explain how the firm’s smart solutions have a formative influence on a product – from the first draft to the determination of the design tendency to the production stage. This way, innovations are created which convince with both their extraordinary forms and excellent functions.

The latest developments from the field of virtual design creation are also topic of a new conference series: On 20 and 21 September, the software company solidThinking invites for the CONVERGE 2016. Product designers, developers and innovators from around the globe will come together for professional exchange at the SANAA building, which is – like the Red Dot Design Museum – located on the grounds of the Zollverein World Heritage Site in Essen, Germany. Four workshops on crowd funding, design tools and methods, casted products design und additive manufacturing offer the opportunity to expand ones design knowledge under professional guidance.
