Double distinction for sustainable designs

Good design should always be environmentally friendly and sustainable. The new metacategory Good design should, among other things, take aspects of environmental compatibility and sustainability into account. In the new "Sustainable Design" meta-category, products are awarded for being durable, adaptable, and produced in a material- and energy-efficient manner, or made from renewable and recyclable resources. From 16 September 2024, you will have the opportunity to submit responsibly designed products for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2025.

Convince the Red Dot jury with your sustainable design

After completing your registration in one of the classic categories, you can also submit your sustainable design in the “Sustainable Design” metacategory. This means your submission will be evaluated twice by the Red Dot Jury: In the first round, the experts assess the holistic design, and in the second round, they focus on the sustainable features of your product. Be sure to describe these features separately in the second submission to impress the jury with your sustainable solution!

In the “Sustainable Design” metacategory, you can enter products from all sectors that will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

The Philips MyCreation Coastal Breeze is a sustainable pendant light made from recycled fishing nets

The Vici children’s bike combines ergonomic design, safety, and style to provide young riders with a comfortable and secure cycling experience.

The Buoy water bottles combine circular design with functional innovation by being made entirely from recycled and recyclable ocean plastic and impressing with their modular construction.

The SAVO 360 chair is distinguished by its fully interchangeable, repairable, and recyclable components

The Eco-Design tableware 8pandas Series1 is made from the renewable resource bamboo

The Superchair is moulded from a single piece of recycled polypropylene

Tupperware has designed the Ultimate Silicone Bags as sustainable, reusable pouches made from flexible, BPA-free silicone, which also help reduce food waste through their design.
