Wearable Light Therapy For Natural Newborn Care
60% of all newborns develop jaundice; 10% require therapy to avoid potential neurological damage. Blue light phototherapy is an effective and established treatment method that has been used to treat affected babies for over 2 to 3 days. It is a common practice to confine the baby in an incubator or cot and have the baby wear goggles. More family-friendly solutions still require the parents to be in a fixed location, and the establishment of feeding, sleeping and soothing cues is compromised.
Wearable Light Therapy is designed to support both parents and child as much as possible with their natural care routines. For example, the wearable device can be worn by the baby during breastfeeding, skin-to-skin contact and even when the baby is being carried around.
To achieve this, Wearable Light Therapy uses three layered opaque, breathable and temperature-managed fabric in specially designed garments. While it has many features, the combined device appears ordinary, much like a baby’s vest or jumper. It is comfortable to wear and has a large surface area for phototherapy. The device is powered by an external battery which can be easily snapped on or off via a magnetic connection.
