Voice of Taiwan
This book portrays Taiwan in the 1960s when vendors still walked along streets and touted their products loudly to attract customers. It features the main character A-Rong, who is blind. Through a total of seven stories, it tells of vendors’ daily lives, dreams and struggles. The publication combines elaborately crafted illustrations with photographs. At the start of each story there is a special mechanism: by pressing the button, readers can hear the sounds of street calls, while QR codes help them to understand what the vendors are saying. Thus, “Voice of Taiwan” seeks to evoke the spirit of the culture of street calls and recall the warm relationship among the people involved.
