The 31st Golden Melody Awards

The Golden Melody Award is a trophy bestowed by the Taiwan Ministry for Culture for services to the Chinese-language music industry. The trailer for the 31st awards ceremony plays with the stylistic conventions of time reversal, in which a physical process, here the melting-down of the trophy, is seen in reverse order. The camera initially shows gold particles floating in open water, then follows a stream of liquid gold which snakes its way through a rocky landscape all the way to its source: the trophy itself. At the end, the process is seen again in forward motion, so that two different visual experiences are created which stand in exciting contrast to one another.
