The 24 Solar Terms
Referring to the orbital positions of celestial bodies, the ancient Chinese calendar divided the year into 24 solar terms, each with corresponding natural conditions and humanistic connotations. This series of illustrations depicts the deities associated with the solar terms so as to acquaint people with traditional Chinese culture, for instance with Goumang, the god of spring in Chinese mythology, who is associated with the spring greeting ceremonies at Lichun, the beginning of spring. The detailed illustrations and retro fonts adopt a modern typography to further emphasise tradition, and also to show the collision between tradition and fashion.
