The raw climatic conditions and geographical characteristics of Norway place very high demands on the design of trains operated by Norwegian State Railways. The robust front of the NSB-Flirt train assures reliable operation even when confronted with snowdrifts and icy temperatures. To the interior, an interplay of warm and cool grey tones along with indirect lighting creates a timeless Nordic atmosphere, providing the necessary degree of ease and comfort, even on very long journeys. At night, the peripheral areas are dimmed in order to provide passengers with a sense of security. All of the furniture elements, such as luggage racks and partitions, are independent modules. This flexibility allows the operating railway company to respond to changing customer needs with a minimum of conversion work.
