Good is like Water
The 2019 Gwangju Design Biennale addresses social issues through the value and role of design within the theme of humanity. The exhibition highlights design for a sustainable society and human community. The typographically focused poster presents a quote by Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu: “Good is like water.” The typeface of the quote in English is covered with drops of water, which act like a prism and distort the typeface. Thus, the quote can only be read clearly by taking a closer look. The three-dimensional contours of the drops form the Chinese character for “good”.
