Fortum set out to promote its fully recycled Circo plastic as an ingredient for the plastic manufacturing industry. When the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic hit Europe, the company invented the Fortum Circo Handle, a door-handle supplement which enables people to open doors without touching them by hand. The 3D-printed device was installed in grocery shops early in the lockdown period. Six weeks later, the design corporation Fiskars Group closed a deal with Fortum for the mass manufacturing and distribution of the handles internationally.
