Banned Exhibition

The Banned Exhibition targets censorship in the People’s Republic of China. Written, visual and audio elements are skilfully intertwined to reveal the different types of censored content. The centrepiece of the project is a printout on continuous paper. It lists thousands of key words which banned from the mass media in China. The stories behind these words are explained by a video projected onto the printout. In addition, a personal plea for freedom is displayed on a lectern. This statement reinforces the critical intention of the exhibition by employing a seemingly carefree yet urgent tone.
