2nd Taiwan Film Festival in Toronto
The brand design of the 2nd Taiwan Film Festival in Toronto evokes impressions of Taiwan by using the traditional Taiwanese “Gazi Bag” colours of red, blue, and green. The key visual not only promotes the cultural festival, but also allows Taiwanese expatriats to feel a sense of familiarity. The four main Chinese characters used in the festival’s promotional materials adopted the shape of Taiwanese children’s playing cards, the idea being to stimulate memories of early childhood and connect the image of youth with the present. The ridged circular border around the characters recalls the nostalgia around early outdoor film screenings.
