The Red Dot: Junior Award is part of the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design. This competition is aimed at…
The future of communication design
The future may belong to the brave, but it’s the young designers who will be playing an important role in shaping the communication sector over the next decades. The Red Dot: Junior Award has always offered a special deal to young creatives from around the globe, thereby helping them to successfully launch their careers.
Projects and creative works can be submitted in one or more of the 18 categories. Recipients of a Red Dot: Best of the Best not only feature in the yearbook alongside the professional design projects, but also have the chance to present their work to the public at large. Red Dot winners can use the Red Dot Label on all their communication media to signal their outstanding talent, so participating in the sector’s flagship design competition is a great opportunity for young designers to raise their profile and publicise their projects.
Red Dot: Junior Prize
The Red Dot: Junior Prize comes with EUR 10,000 in prize money to support young creatives who are just starting out in the design scene. The experts in the Red Dot jury select the best work of the year from the Red Dot: Junior Awards Best of the Best winners.
Their judging criteria include creativity, implementation quality and, naturally, relevance. After all, the Red Dot: Junior Prize is intended to stimulate the industry with fresh ideas, creatively address social issues and support the further development of projects that are innovative in terms of topic, technology or approach.
The prize winners in recent years show how a diverse group of young creatives approach the development of solutions to everyday challenges in an environment free from commercial constraints. Providing a space for these ideas to flourish is the core idea behind the Red Dot: Junior Award.
Not only does the winner of the Red Dot: Junior Prize receive a cash reward, they can also look forward to a prominent spot in the winners’ exhibition and an invitation to the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design awards ceremony, where they will be celebrated on stage. The Red Dot: Junior Prize is a building block for a successful, creative future!
In 2023, Marie-Luise Charlotte Weier was awarded the Red Dot: Junior Prize. She impressed the jury with her project “PYRY”, a frozen book that fascinates with aesthetic photographs and ice-covered pages:
