Special exhibition in the German Museum Huelsmann: “International Packaging Design – Selected by Red Dot“

With “International Packaging Design – Selected by Red Dot“, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen presents a selection of projects that were awarded in the Red Dot Award: Communication Design, starting 9 June 2016. The exhibition takes place in the Museum Huelsmann in Bielefeld, Germany, and shows exclusive works that were honoured in 2015 within the category “Packaging Design“. It runs until 30 October 2016.

16 winning works from the category “Packaging Design“

16 projects that received the quality seal of the design industry, the Red Dot, last year, show people interested the range of successful packaging design. As for example the winners of the Red Dot: Best of the Best, the distinction for high design quality, or the Red Dot: Grand Prix, the highest single distinction in a category, that was awarded to the Finnish agency Win Win Packaging in 2015. The packaging “This is Not Calvados“ managed to convince the Red Dot jury with its natural look, the environmentally friendly cardboard and its strong package. 

Furthermore, the exhibition features the innovations of the Red Dot: Agency of the Year 2015, the German agency group Leo Burnett; And above this, the poster campaign “Faith“ of the German Theater Bielfeld. The picture series, desgined by the agency Marcellini and awarded with the Red Dot: Best of the Best, presents in a truely playful way the repertory season 2014/2015 of the renowned theatre. Names of well known plays are illustrated on the basis of appealling pictures. The viewer is directly affected by content and message through this specific design identity.

International selection of awarded works

In the center of the exhibition are the country-specific characteristics of the individual projects: Through the international selection, visitors get answers to classical design questions such as the choice of colours, materiality, shape and the transfer of different cultural backgrounds. The projects come from Japan, Sweden, South Korea, Greece, Great Britain, Russia and many more countries.

Red Dot Award: Communication Design

The Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016 still runs until 10 June and gives designers and communication experts the possibilty to compete on an international level. Besides “Packaging Design“, participants can enter their projects in 20 further categories.
