Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2010-2014: Five successful crews at a glance
Annually, thousands of products are assessed by an international jury as part of the Red Dot Award: Product Design. All those who successfully complete this selection process and are awarded with the Red Dot for their achievements can count their products amongst the best of the year. But there is one distinction that stands out from all the others: the title of honour “Red Dot: Design Team of the Year”.
No company or designer can apply for this title to win this unique award. Since 1988, it is awarded for consistently high product design performance. In the last five years, the prestigious award for product design honoured the following team efforts:
2010: Stephan Niehaus & the Hilti Design Team
The Liechtenstein company was awarded for its products that stand for the perfect unity of function and design.
2011: The Grohe Design Team led by Paul Flowers
Grohe was given the title for its fantastic bathroom fittings with which the company has achieved global acclaim and has brought water experiences to life for all senses.
2012: Michael Mauer & Style Porsche
Porsche ensures that its absolutely distinctive identity is preserved using an evolutionary approach to design. Therefore, Red Dot honoured the design team of the sports car manufacturer.
2013: Lenovo Design & User Experience Team
In 2013, Lenovo was awarded with the title “Red Dot: Design Team of the Year” for its unique forms and applications, and also in the creative use of original materials unseen before in notebooks and tablets.
2014: Veryday
Last year, Red Dot has payed homage to the product designers of Veryday. The Swedish company persuaded with user-oriented solutions at the highest level, which were created for high-profile brands.
In a little while, Professor Dr Peter Zec is going to congratulate the new design team for its outstanding achievements and officially names the new carrier of the challenge cup “Radius”.
After the announcement, an exciting time for the Red Dot: Design Team of the 2015 will begin. It has to prepare its stage show for the Red Dot Gala in the Aalto-Theater Essen on 29 June 2015 as well as its special exhibition in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen. Within the world`s largest exhibition of contemporary design, the design team traditionally presents itself and its outstanding products in an exclusive setting.
