Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015 - Vincent Créance, Prof. Jure Miklavc and Aleksandar Tatic are in the jury

The Red Dot has a global reputation for maximum performances in design all over the world. Thousands of global brands and medium enterprises enter their products into a competition for one of the world’s most distinguished awards – the Red Dot. For 60 years now, the award-winning products have been selected each year by a jury of independent design experts. This year, the expert group comprises 38 design professionals, among them Vincent Créance, Prof. Jure Miklavc and Aleksandar Tatic.

Vincent Créance graduated from the Ecole Supérieure de Design Industriel. He began his career in 1985 at the Plan Créatif Agency where he became design director and developed numerous products, both for hi-tech and consumer markets as several phone ranges for France Télécom and for the design of stations and fittings for the RATP (Paris metro). Furthermore, he worked with EDF-GDF (France’s national electricity and gas company), etc. In 1996 he joined Alcatel as Design Director for all phones activities on an international level. In 1999, he became Vice President Brand in charge of product design and user experience as well as external and internal communications for the Mobile Phones BU. Then, during the launch of the Franco-Chinese TCL and Alcatel Mobile Phone joint venture in 2004, he became Design and Corporate Communications Director. In 2006, Vincent Créance became President and CEO of MBD Design, one of the main design agencies in France, providing design solutions in Transport Design and Product Design. Créance is a member of the APCI (Agency for Promotion of Industrial Creation) and ENSCI (National College of Industrial Creation) board of directors, and a member of the Strategic Advisory Board for Strate College.

Jure Miklavc is a graduate in industrial design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and has nearly 20 years of experience in the field of design. Miklavc started his career working as a freelance designer, before founding his own design consultancy Studio Miklavc. Studio Miklavc works in the field of product design, visual communications, brand development and is a consultancy for a variety of clients from light design, electronic goods, user interfaces, transport design to medical equipment. Sports equipment that they designed gained worldwide success. From 2013 onwards, the studio works for the prestigious Italian motorbike manufacturer Bimota. Designs by Studio Miklavc have also received many highest international awards and have been displayed in numerous exhibitions. Jure Miklavc has been involved in design education since 2005 and is now a permanent lecturer and head of industrial design at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana.

Aleksandar Tatic, born 1969 in Cologne, Germany, is product designer and founder of Tatic Designstudio in Milan, Italy. After his studies at the Art Center College of Design in the USA and Switzerland, he specialised in his focal areas, sports and lifestyle products, in various international agencies in London and Milan. Afterwards, he guided the multiple award-winning Italian design studio Attivo Creative Resource to international success, leading the agency for 12 years. Together with his multicultural team of designers and product specialists, he today designs and develops – amongst others – sailing yachts, sporting goods, power tools, FMCGs and consumer electronics for European and Asian premium brands. Aleksandar Tatic lectures practice-oriented industrial design and innovation management at various European universities and seminars.
