Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015 - Again great success for Swedish Design
2014 was already a special year for the Scandinavian design industry: The design studio Veryday was the first Swedish company in the history of the Red Dot Award: Product Design that was distinguished "Red Dot: Design Team of the Year". 2015, products from Sweden convinced the Red Dot jury again.
41 submissions from Sweden were awarded in the prestigious award for product design and three products received the highest single distinction "Red Dot: Best of the Best". Since 2012 this seal of outstanding design quality was awarded to Swedish designers 18 times, including this year's winners: the kitchen sink "Intra Eligo" by Intra Mölntorp AB Design, the forest helmet of Husqvarna Group and the Volvo XC90.
The creative skills of the Scandinavian nation and many international manufacturers can be experienced by visitors in "Design on stage - Winners Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015" in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen. From 30 June to 26 July, all winners of this year's competition will be presented in the special exhibition.
Swedish design standards such as functionality and simple elegance were already focused in the exhibition "Sweden at its best: Red Dot Award-winning design from the North" at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen. From October 2013 to March 2014, this show enthused numerous visitors, including Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Prince Daniel.
Like the royal visit, the award ceremony for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015 and the legendary "Designer's Night" provoke considerable media attention. Both events will take place on Monday, 29 June 2015. The laureates of the Red Dot Award: Best of the Best will be honoured during the gala in Essen's Aalto-Theater. Afterwards, the guests and the laureates will celebrate together in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in the midst of award-winning products.
