“La valeur du design” – Red Dot selection 2016 in St. Etienne

In St. Etienne, France, a new exhibition will present the merits and value of good design – and it will prove that the term goes way beyond the surface. From 15 September 2016 until 8 January 2017, “La valeur du design” (“The value of design”) will show Red Dot awarded products from France and around the world at the Cité du Design.

Visitors can look forward to around 120 fascinating objects which were granted a distinction in the Red Dot Design Award. From tools to home appliances, from furniture to consumer electronics – the well-shaped products come from various fields of everyday life. Divided into six categories, the presentation grants insights into the design value: ergonomics, life science, modern life, personal mobility, intelligent materials and intelligent technologies.

The title of the exhibition – “La valeur du design” – refers to the business site of the design term: Successful design is not a question of beauty, but one of sales. The selection will pay special attention to human-centred innovations, meaning that all products on show are particularly well-made in terms of human interdependence. The collection documents that companies which invest in innovative and well-designed products develop better in comparison with their competitors who place less or no value on design. The vernissage of the exhibition will take place on 14 September 2016.
