Honouring of the laureates: Red Dot Gala fully booked faster than ever
Red carpet and photographers’ flashlights for the best designers and manufacturers of the year: On 9 July, the laureates of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2018 will be officially announced and honoured for their outstanding design performance within the framework of the glamourous award ceremony in Essen, Germany. While the Red Dot Gala was fully booked faster than ever, interested people still have the chance to reserve one of the limited tickets for the Winners’ Dinner or the Designers’ Night.
Red Dot Gala: honouring of the best designers and manufacturers
During the Red Dot Gala, the laureates of the Red Dot: Best of the Best, the highest distinction of the competition, receive their trophies in Essen’s opera house. In a festive atmosphere, Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award, will welcome numerous guests of honour, among them jury members of the competition, on stage of the Aalto-Theater. The highlight of the event represents the honouring of the Red Dot: Design Team of the Year. In 2017, the title went to the Canyon Design Team, which convinced through excellent product design for years. During the gala event, the new title holders will receive the “Radius” challenge cup from Roman Arnold, founder and CEO of Canyon Bicycles. Thereby, they are officially declared Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2018. Soon, it will be announced who receives this year’s honorary title.
Culinary delights at the exclusive Winners’ Dinner
After the Red Dot Gala, the exclusive Winners’ Dinner takes place at the Zollverein World Heritage Site. Around 400 persons, among them winners as well as representatives from business, politics and the media, will enjoy the menu by a star chef and his crew in the former picking belt hall.
Designers’ Night: aftershow party and exhibition opening
At the aftershow party in the Red Dot Design Museum, the international design scene meets to celebrate together, to dance and to network. The laureates of the Red Dot and the Honourable Mention receive their certificates here. Furthermore, the winners’ exhibition “Design on Stage – Winners Red Dot Award: Product Design 2018” which shows the award-winning products for four weeks as well as the exhibition of the Red Dot: Design Team of the Year will be opened.
The day of the Red Dot Gala coincides with the publication of the Red Dot Design Yearbook 2018/2019, which showcases all of the year’s winning products. In addition, they can be found in the Online Exhibition, in the Red Dot App and on Red Dot 21 from that date.
