Xiangyang Fanyue Mall International Cinema
The design of this cinema has adopted the idea of a “dark box” as was used for image creation in the 18th century. It is based on a construction of rectangular columns that criss-cross each other to form a dynamic ceiling feature. The aluminium columns are painted with a light-coloured wood pattern and installed at different heights to enhance the spatial effect. Small TVs are mounted at one end of the columns, playing clips from films to resemble images reflected in a dark box. Light bulbs on the other end serve to illuminate the space.
