Tut Chair
The Tut Chair embodies the designer’s understanding and profound love for Ancient Egyptian design, as well as the desire to showcase this traditional culture to a wider audience. The name is derived from Tutankhamun's chair from 1250 BC. The chair’s well-balanced intricacy and confident aesthetic give it a palpable presence, and its apparent simplicity conceals an intricate solid wood carving. The goal of the design was to lighten the structure and padding, stripping the design down to the essentials without sacrificing comfort.
With clean lines, the chair is meant to look good from any angle while revealing interesting details on every view. The chair’s back curvature mimics the ergonomics of the human body to provide comfortable support. In terms of materials, it employs olive wood and, in particular, papyrus, which are both interesting and trend-setting, but also sustainable materials that help to reduce the use of wood veneers. Its innovative papyrus seat is its standout feature.
