Qingshui Aesthetics
Qingshui Aesthetics challenges the perception of traditional souvenirs and vegetable packaging. The packaging is redesigned as a produce carrier bag to promote ‘Three Chives’, the local agricultural specialty of Qingshui District in Taichung, Taiwan.
‘Three Chives’ contains the trio of garlic chives, chives flower and yellow chives packaged in professional food preservation vacuum bags that are waterproofed to meet the needs of customers. In addition, the soil in the package contains mixed seeds that can be used to replant garlic chives to achieve recycling value. The concept provides a novel experience and emphasises how grocery shopping can be both fashionable and practical.
The concept began with the notion of ‘agricultural products meets aesthetics meets functionality’, while incorporating Taiwanese specialties. Upon visiting Taichung’s Qingshui District, the designers were inspired by the area’s beautiful scenery. The transparency of the packaging is similar to that of clear water chives, and the fresh garlic chives, along with their roots and soil, are visible through the packaging. The colours of Qingshui District can be seen through the Qingshui Aesthetics.
