The motto of the Niederrhein University is “crossing borders”. True to this philosophy, the corporate video crosses visual borders by doing without shots of real-life scenes. Instead, by an analogy to school and learning, it starts off with an animated drop of blue ink: firstly, the drop symbolises the world in which the Niederrhein University offers orientation by giving its 10,800 students the opportunity to “write their future” to suit their own individual goals. The drop then starts to move, illustrating the university’s 150 years of history and tradition in facts and figures, leaving lines of blue ink on a white paper background. Retracing the development of the university into a global network and esteemed academic institution, the lines become ever more filigree and convey a firmly rooted image. With this unusual, creative approach to the topic, the film not only builds the university’s profile and distinguishes it from other universities, it also implements the university’s mission statement in a coherent and sophisticated manner.
