DOWN-LESS DOWN JACKET
In the apparel industry, known for its pollution, it's crucial to adopt methods that reduce environmental impact by using sustainable materials and optimising logistics and recycling. Addressing this, Emerging Material Tech created the world’s first solar-smart jacket, the DOWN-LESS DOWN JACKET.
The key is SOLAMENT™ material technology, which absorbs near-infrared rays from sunlight and instantly converts the rays into heat. This transparent down jacket, made without feathers, generates immediate heat when exposed to sunlight, producing warmth that matches or exceeds that of traditional down jackets.
The jacket also incorporates common materials like agricultural nets and packing materials, eliminating the need for feathers and complex processes in apparel manufacturing. This innovative approach demonstrates the potential for producing highly functional clothing with fewer resources, prompting a rethink of necessary resources.
Additionally, SOLAMENT™ can serve as a heat-shielding material that allows visible light while blocking heat, preventing temperature rise inside spaces. This characteristic can control room temperatures without fossil fuels, potentially impacting industries like construction and agriculture. The development continues with the hope that SOLAMENT™ will become a next-generation material technology suited for contemporary needs.
