COSMOS

In Gabor Palotai’s latest artist’s book, COSMOS, the 72 illustrations display a distinct graphic vision of outer space and turn planets, galaxies, moons and stars into abstract art. Individual patterns in white, black and orange form the different-sized circles. They derive their own identity from within themselves, and at the same time are set in relationship to each other. In this way, the illustrations demonstrate that each individual is also his or her own cosmos. Additionally, the patterns in contrasting colours create a graphic rhythm that seems to make the circles swell, shrink and spin – an optical illusion that awakens the imagination of the reader.
