Baden-Württemberg Stiftung Annual Report 2018

Zurück Download

The annual report of the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung, a state-funded foundation, explores the microcosm of coexistence as exemplified by a street neighbourhood in the west of Stuttgart. The neighbourhood there is experiencing ruptures due to a process of rapid gentrification. Starting with the question of what unites society, the annual report focuses foremost on people. A teaser campaign was launched in the shops and cafes of the quarter, which involved all people across the street in the topic via beer coasters, postcards, pins and friendship ribbons and thus made the Schwabstraße in Stuttgart turn into a laboratory of society. In numerous videos and interviews, the local people talk about their lives, their street and their quarter in the west of Stuttgart, a neighbourhood in which diverse lifestyles, different cultures and subcultures collide and live together. As a vivid collage of pictures, portraits and interviews, the annual report thus mirrors both the diversity and ruptures at the same time. In an authentic approach, it conveys what most moves the foundation and which programmes and projects it offers.

Begründung der Jury

The idea of depicting the work of the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung through the neighbourhood of a street is marvellous. The generous layout provides ample space for presenting the topic and creates exciting tension using typefaces and documentary-style photographs. Just like life on that street, the design exudes vividness and authenticity, while also implementing the essential facts and figures in a high-quality style.
