Archaeological Promenade – James Simon Gallery
The new James Simon Gallery was conceived as a central entrance and main visitors’ centre for the Museum Island in Berlin. The presentation conveying comprehensive content in an innovative manner realises the objective of bringing cultural history to life and making it tangible. It documents the historical development of the Museum Island with its five museums and seven archaeological collections, starting with its modest beginnings as a coin cabinet in the Berlin Palace and ending with the current status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The austere and timeless design blends harmoniously into the architecture.
