Alienware Concept Nyx

Alienware Concept Nyx spotlights the role that edge computing could play, where high performance game processing could be done at home and shared across the local network. Because the processing occurs locally (rather than having to travel to and from distant servers), it may offer lower latency, greater bandwidth and greater responsiveness, ultimately addressing some of the performance shortcomings of current alternatives such as cloud gaming. This means that multiplayer latency could reach single-digit milliseconds, drastically reducing any lag in today’s cloud gaming systems. It doesn’t stop there either. The design team has been looking at how to power four game streams simultaneously, smart switching between devices and drawing from a central library of all a user’s games, regardless of where they were purchased. Gaming on Alienware Concept Nyx aims to be as effortless as accessing your favourite music, TV shows and movies. Imagine a simple app loaded on each device that delivers instant access to all your games for a more seamless gaming experience across devices in the home.
