30° – Visualising Ocean Data
In view of the fact that ocean waters are an important part of the global ecosystem, this installation focuses on scientific efforts to gain a better understanding of the sea. The exhibited data originate from measurements taken along the 30th meridian west, which, for the most part, runs across the open sea. Short animations visualise scientific parameters like temperature, salinity or oxygen concentration. By merging light, space and animated graphics into an artistic underwater world, plain information is converted into an aesthetic experience.
