Whisper in the Forest

“Forest dreaming” is well-known in Finland. This calendar links the dreams with the buildings of the renowned architect Alvar Aalto. Finns believe that the unique poetic feeling generated by the forest and its interplay of light and shadows, as well as the dramatic change of the seasons is rooted in the Finnish soul. As a trailblazer of modernity, Alvar Aalto aimed to established a close connection between buildings and countryside, as shown here as yellow silhouettes on the forest and landscape depicted in blue. The trick: the outline of his famous vase acts as a filter and makes the yellow areas appear black.
