Book
Western-Style Building
This book presents eight historical buildings in the southern Chinese village of Shuei-Tou, which are representative of a special type of architecture for which the village is known. The poor soil in the area once prompted many people to look for work abroad. When they returned with money to build their own houses, they mixed the style and experience they had gathered abroad with local elements, combining western culture with Minnan culture. The Asian-style book also features explanations of the buildings’ history, interior design and tiled roofs, thus shedding light on the region’s unique architectural style and interesting history.
