Tree in the Bottle

The development of this packaging was based on the cradle-to-cradle concept and thus the idea of thorough biological recycling. The harmonious and reduced design of the bottle is made of fully biodegradable polylactide plastic and once the bottle is empty can be planted directly in the garden. As soon as the bottle starts to decompose into carbon dioxide and water, the seed groove hidden in the bottle will bud and grow into an acacia – a tree native in Taiwan and known for high-carbon sequestration. Tying in with the company philosophy of hope and sustainability, the acacia tree emerges as a new source of oxygen supply for the earth and thus contributes to significantly reducing the energy consumption of the product. The cap of the overall organic packaging is made of Taiwanese moso bamboo, which is handcrafted in such a way that it keeps its specific fine pattern and pleasantly tactile, vivid texture. Statement by the jury »Alongside its minimalist, clean and plain aesthetic, the outstanding characteristic of this packaging design is the extraordinary approach towards recycling. The innovative, groundbreaking idea is reflected in and matched by the natural colours and forms of the product family.«
