Thermal Responsive Fashion Design

返回 Download

Smart thermal inks offer the possibility of creating ambient temperature responsive clothing. The team has realised this vision through a cross-fertilisation of design and technology, creating a thermal responsive fashion design that self-adjusts to the ambient temperature and automatically regulates the body temperature without having to add or remove clothing layers. Dynamic-thermo ink is a composite of thermally responsive scattering nanocrystalline spheres and graphene sheets that can effectively reflect the ambient light source and radiate its own infrared heat to achieve cooling at high temperatures. At low temperatures, the ink exhibits black surface phase-switching for strong light absorption and warmth. This duality ensures constant temperature regulation and comfort in both hot and cold environments. The phase- switching temperature of the ink can be freely customised for different seasons and environments. Using data from human body thermal imaging, different graphic arrays are generated on the Grasshopper software so that the intelligent thermal control inks can be designed and arranged on the garment according to the temperature control needs. Using special digital printing technology, different colour layers are mixed with intelligent thermal control ink and printed on the fabric. The thermal control ink on the garment’s surface intelligently responds to the temperature change in the outdoors and regulates body heat to meet various activity and temperature requirements. Environmentally friendly fabrics, such as washable Dupont paper, can be used in our sustainable fashion design approach, which aims for zero waste and minimal design-and-cut.
