This branding for the city of Moscow is based on the idea that it is impossible to capture the diversity of the metropolis with just a few pictorial symbols. Instead, an attractive image of the city is conveyed by a purely typographic solution, a mix of Cyrillic characters, cursive script and fonts of the avant-garde artist Sergei Chekhov. The bizarre alphabet lends an artistic touch to the visual identity. It is highlighted by bright red, the colour traditionally associated to the Russian capital. Thanks to its multi-faceted and expressive style, the design vocabulary is eye-catching while being suitable for various media.
