The Reframing of Being Forgotten
This work introduces Sinawi, an ancient form of Korean folk music, which originally accompanied the dancing and singing of a shaman. While the audience is shown a video with an ensemble playing Sinawi, the improvised sounds are reflected in a special music score. In addition, a handkerchief, driven by a motor and fans, mimics the performance of a dancer. Through the finely tuned interaction of media, the information concept draws attention to the traditional music. It communicates the vigour of the sound in a modern and particularly lively manner.
