Symptom of Student
Student life in Taiwan today is critically but also humorously explored by this series of illustrations. The ironic drawings portray student life from being a college freshman through to being a senior as a sickness-inducing journey full of parties, between stuffed wardrobes and immersed in chaotic disorder. The colouring of the illustrations highlights the students’ development. While strong, bright colours predominate in the early period, students in later semesters are characterised by matt, pale tones. The 52 main symptoms covered in the books are intended to make students reflect on their behaviour.
