STAR
The design objective of the STAR staircase was to minimise the cross-section of the handrail, thus optimising the staircase’s aesthetics. Because the handrail in this design contributes significantly to the load-bearing structure, the harmonious cross-section had to retain its stability. The solution consists of individual patented stainless steel piping elements, which have a minimal handrail cross-section of 60.3 mm, and which can be stored in small boxes during transport, thus minimising volume. The assembly process requires only that the elements be screwed together using a single tool.
