“Conserve energy” – this is one of the most important rules in the mountains, a principle that also played a key role in the development of the Ski-Doo Freeride. The aim was to optimise this snowmobile for sporting rides on the mountain and in deep snow, and to design it in such a way that it reduces the physical effort for riders. In order to increase sled dynamics and enhance the riding control, the centre of gravity was improved and the bodywork reduced to a minimum to save weight. As a result, the snowmobile is more agile and can also manage technically demanding terrain both off the slopes and through forests. These characteristics are also reflected in its dynamic, powerful appearance, which quotes the racing elements of earlier Ski-Doo models. A longer drive track combined with a shorter tunnel length ensures better forward lift in deep snow. The ergonomic driver’s seat, the slender structure and the low weight combine to ensure maximum control on the snow and when lifting off the ground. An innovative one-piece hood and lightweight airbox give the Freeride a concise and focused appeal. Even more weight has been saved by implementing the new SHOT system, which replaces the traditional battery with an electric starter and lightweight ultracapacitor.

Extreme reduction is what characterises the design of the Ski-Doo Freeride and thus fundamentally changes the perception of this type of vehicle. With its slender proportions and striking purist bodywork design, the snowmobile projects both the notions of light weight and power. This lends it a strong visual identity as an extreme sports vehicle. Good manoeuvrability, performance and reliable handling merge for an impressive riding experience.
