Shanhai Art Museum

The architectural design of this museum is based on the natural shapes of mountains, lakes and stones. Unlike the stable platforms built over mountains and forests, this project completely preserves and even integrates the natural environment into the building to the extent that some of the vegetation and trees can be found in several rooms. The melding of indoors and outdoors and the respect for special local features characterise the architecture. In this way, inspiration for the lighting, works of art, spatial music, furniture and logo systems comes from the countryside surrounding the museum.
