Since it is difficult to recognise ripe avocados before purchase, the brand promotion of the Ripe Check Sticker offers customers of the REWE supermarket chain an easy tool for determining when an avocado has reached the ideal ripening condition. The promotion is based on the fact that organically produced Hass avocados have a skin that becomes darker with increasing ripeness. Having the same colour as an ideally ripened avocado, the stickers on the avocados reliably tell customers when an avocado has ripened enough to be ready to eat.
